Bugged Hitboxes and Useless Attachments; Battlefield 2042's Flawed Shooting
Information about further problems of Battlefield 2042 appears in the web, and many of them concern the shooting model.
- Battlefield 2042 has problems with the shooting model;
- It turns out that weapons have unnatural spread, and attachments don't work as they should;
- In addition, some operators have buggy hitboxes.
Battlefield 2042 has not yet seen its official release, and it already arouses much controversy. The game's technical condition spawned a wave of negative reviews in the web. This is particularly evident on the example of player ratings on Metacritic. Other problems, which can be read about in the Internet, may further aggravate the situation.
Many of them concern a key element of the game, namely the shooting model. There's no shortage of complaints from players online who feel that hitting enemies is largely a matter of luck. It turns out that, in fact, their judgment is not wrong. Videos have appeared on Reddit that illustrate what owners of the game are currently struggling with. Some of them show exactly what is wrong with the shooting model in BF2042.
The biggest of the problems is probably the unnaturally large spread of bullets. As you can see, it's not enough to aim at the enemy. In fact, the short videos clearly show that bullets do not fly in the direction indicated by collimators or scopes (user JetW77 shows the details). Often they simply hit other places. Sniper rifles can therefore boast accuracy comparable to that of shotguns.

Even if your bullet actually flies in the right direction, it still doesn't mean it will hit. Battlefield 2042 has another problem, and this time it has to do with character hitboxes (user NickelFPS shows the details). It turns out that some operators will be hit even if you send bullets past them. Others, on the other hand, will not care about the bullets flying through their limbs, and even part of the torso. Choosing the right operator does matter, but not for the reasons the developers intended.
If you're hoping for a selection of weapon accessories to help you aim, you'll be disappointed, too. Many of them apparently have inadequate descriptions that can be misleading (details are shown by user Skada85). For example, the exhaust brake on the AK-24 should limit the gun's vertical movement. In game, however, the recoil of the weapon is much less noticeable with the stock barrel. So using the attachment not only doesn't help, but actually hinders the use of the rifle.
At this point Battlefield 2042 suffers from a number of problems that relate to the very essence of gameplay - shooting enemies. DICE has a lot of work ahead of it if it wants to fix these bugs. Hopefully we'll eventually see improvements comparable to those that Battlefield 4 received years ago.
