A week ago, Electronic Arts shared information about the Hazard Mode in Battlefield 2042, and today, the developers continue the reveal, presenting new Specialists to join the five soldiers we've already met.

New Specialists and their progression

The range of playable characters in Battlefield 2042 will be expanded by:

  1. Navin Rao from India: can hack devices, after killing a target his software targets nearby enemies; can hack environmental elements as well as enemy equipment.
  2. Santiago "Dozer" Espinoza from Mexico: equipped with a ballistic shield, he can soak in more damage, especially since his special ability is partial resistance to blasts.

  4. Ji-Soo Park from South Korea: has the ability to track enemies that deal wound her; additionally, she can deploy scanners to detect hiding enemies.
  5. Constantin "Angel" Anghel from Romania: most closely resembles the support class from previous Battlefields; can set up supply crates and revive fallen allies (restoring their armor in the process).

Improvements and lessons learned from the open beta

In addition to showcasing the new Specialists, the developers at DICE provided plenty of details on what lessons they learned from the earlier beta test and what improvements will be made to the game based on that.

It was announced that the number of tanks will be increased from 4 to 8 on the Orbital map on PC as well as on new-gen consoles. Movement will be improved (turning while sliding and climbing on objects), as well as the associated animations (getting in and out of vehicles). Many aspects of the game's interface will also be improved, such as the large map and systems to help with communication and orientation in the field.

In addition, the developers mentioned an increase in the readability of information about kills and the status of sectors of different parts of the map. A special mode for players affected by color blindness will be introduced. Our equipment is to become fully customizable. Another novelty is chat, which will be introduced to the console editions of Battlefield 2042, as the creators want to give the possibility of communication to owners of all platforms. The quick command voice wheel from previous games will also return to the game. Let's also mention the improvement of such aspects as optimization and matchmaking.

The full list of improvements can be found here. How the new Specialists will look like and whether the improvements promised by the developers are enough, we'll find out on November 19, when Battlefield 2042 will debut on PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Early access to the game will be granted to EA Play subscribers and owners of the Gold and Ultimate Edition - they will be able to play from November 12.
