Authentication Error in Gigantic Rampage Edition Explained
As Gigantic made its comeback with Rampage Edition, it's unfortunately far from perfect, as many players experience Authentication Errors. If you are also affected, here you will find more information.
We’ve heard it time and time again that videogames industry is not great when it comes to preserving its legacy. It’s not affecting only retro and old games, but also more modern titles that focus on multiplayer, which have their online services cut off. There are situations, however, where some titles are brought back to life. The very recent example is Gigantic, which has been re-released in Rampage Edition. A lot of fans rejoiced when that happened, but sadly the game falls short when it comes to technical matters. Many players experience Authentication Error that effectively prevents them from enjoying this resurrected production. Let’s explore what’s going on.
Authentication Error in Gigantic Rampage explained
Games getting back to life is nothing new in the industry. Some time ago we’ve seen Evolve following the same scenario with its Stage 2, which is currently in vegetative state again. Unfortunately, Gigantic Rampage is not off to a good start either, as there are technical issues plaguing this otherwise interesting title. Undoubtedly, one of the most annoying is related to Authentication Error that does not allow players to jump into the fray at all.
This bug may be a result of server malfunction, as reported by some players. If it is true, there is no fix for this problem. There are fans who suggest using a VPN to alleviate this issue, yet bear in mind that there are circumstances where using it might result in your account getting banned. VPN is not forbidden, yet buying items on Steam’s Store while you’re connected to it, is strictly against Steam’s Terms of Service. If you decide to implement the workaround recommended by the community, be sure to have VPN disabled while making any purchases on the platform.
Keep in mind that using VPN is illegal in some countries. Before even thinking about this kind of solution, check your regional law regulations. You are doing it at your own risk.
As in many cases regarding technical issues, the best option is to wait for the official response from the developers’ side and expect a proper fix in future patches. As a side note, it is worth mentioning that even if you owned the original Gigantic game 7 years ago, you will still have to purchase Rampage Edition to enjoy it.
