Atomic Heart - 7-minute Gameplay and Info on PS5 and XSX Versions

A 7-minute gameply footage from the Russian FPS Atomic Heart appeared online. Moreover, the creators decided to tell a little more about the game itself.

Grey palette may lull the player into false sense of security.

Environmental narrative pulled straight from BioShock and shape-shifting creatures reminiscent of Prey. This is what Atomic Heart, the Russian FPS from independent studio Mundfish, set in the retrofuturistic Soviet Union, looks like in a nutshell. Or at least these 7 minutes of gameplay that were shared by the devs, during which we can see melee combat against a ton of strange opponents (including a demanding boss).

The developers added a few words to the above material as part of their conversation with IGN. We can read about the game's story, for example:

'The game kicks off when robots start attacking people. P-3 will have to investigate what has caused all these events and deal with what (or who?) is behind all of this.'

Meet Plyush, one of the bosses at Atomic Heart.

The shape of the work is influenced mainly by next-gen technology:

'Our game will have no loading screens due to fast SSD. Next-gen hardware also provides an exclusive opportunity to fulfill our artistic vision and deliver our game with stunning visuals with no downgrading, which was absolutely essential for current gen.'

From these words, it's clear that the title is aimed mainly at PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. However, it will also appear on PCs, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Atomic Heart's development was hampered by the coronavirus, but Mundfish managed the pandemic difficulties and returned to normal operation. So far, the game's release date is unknown.
