New Video From AC Mirage Presents the Game's Deuteragonist - City of Baghdad
Ubisoft has released a new video about Assassin's Creed: Mirage. It introduces the game's second main character - the city of Baghdad.
After it was announced, that Assassin's Creed: Mirage will come out earlier than planned, Ubisoft has released another video about its upcoming game. It presents the game's second main character besides Basim - the city of Baghdad.
Recreating its 9th-century version of the ancient metropolis was no easy task. After all, not much remains of the city that once bustled with life. However, using historical data - including Guy Le Strange's book about Baghdad during the Abbasid era, descriptions by medieval travelers or archaeological finds from neighboring cities - the creators began their tedious work to build this city from the ground up.
To best depict the history and culture of 9th-century Baghdad, Ubisoft enlisted the help of experts. The developers were assisted by, among others, Dr. Glaire Anderson - a specialist in Islamic art and history during the Caliphate period - and Dr. Raphael Weyland, a historian from Montreal. Thanks to their joint efforts the devs have been able to reconstruct four districts of the city:
- Abbasiyah - its cultural center, which houses the House of Wisdom;
- Karkh - a place for trading goods from China, Constantinople and Spain;
- Harbiyah - an industrial circle full of slave traders, orphans, thugs and laborers;
- The Round City - which is the seat of local power (also known as Madinat al-Salam - the City of Peace).
Side quests - known as stories from Baghdad - will be one of the pretexts to thoroughly explore this city. While traversing its streets, we will encounter a ton of NPCs belonging to different religions and cultures, wearing different clothes and speaking many languages. In addition, the developers boast of the visual diversity of the various districts of Baghdad and the out-of-town areas - including the Assassin fortress Masyaf, known from the first game, which in AC: Mirage will only be emerging.
Assassin's Creed: Mirage will be released on October 5 on PC, PS4, PS5, XOne and XSX/S. On the same date, the game will also be available on Ubisoft's service.
