Assassin's Creed, Far Cry and Watch Dogs May Appear in Game Pass

According to unofficial reports from the Xbox camp, later this year we may be able to play games produced by Ubisoft as part of the Game Pass subscription.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • Nick Baker (a.k.a. Shpeshal Ed) revealed that Ubisoft games like the Assassin's Creed series, Far Cry, and Watch Dogs will be available later, this year as part of the Xbox Game Pass subscription;
  • All games that are available on Ubisoft Connect, up to the latest Immortals: Phenyx Rising, will likely be made available;
  • Microsoft may introduce an additional fee for access to Electronic Arts and Ubisoft games.

Since the launch of Xbox Game Pass in 2017, the service has become one of the main pillars of Microsoft's business strategy. More titles are regularly added to the subscription, steadily expanding the already considerable library. However, the company does not slow down - the next step after including in its offer games from EA Play (for which PC users still have to wait), is to integrate with Ubisoft Connect.

Rumors on the subject have been circulating online for some time. Now they seem to be confirmed - all thanks to Nick Baker, an insider also known as Shpeshal Ed, who recently suggested the acquisition of Techland by Microsoft. This time Baker revealed that by the end of this year we'll be able to play Ubisoft's titles on both PC and consoles as part of Xbox Game Pass. The host of the XboxEra podcast is not fully convinced that Microsoft's subscription offer will include all the games from Ubisoft Connect, but he does not rule out such a scenario.

Another possibility is that only slightly older titles will be included in Xbox Game Pass - just like with the EA Play service. This would still be very beneficial for gamers, and Ubisoft could add more titles - such as Assassin's Creed: Valhalla - in due course. However, if Shpeshal Ed's guesses are confirmed and all of the company's games are to be made available, up to and including the latest Immortals: Fenyx Rising, gamers are unlikely to have any major complaints.

AltChar, which published Nick Baker's reports, also reported on a possible price increase for Microsoft's subscription. Interestingly, it would not apply to the standard subscription, but the option of an additional fee (about 5 euros or dollars) for access to Electronic Arts or Ubisoft game catalogue.

Although Shpeshal Ed's revelations sound quite credible, and he has repeatedly reported things that later turned out to be true, they should still be treated as rumors, not an official announcement. However, they are certainly rumors one would like to believe. Who of you would not play the older installments of Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, Watch Dogs or Anno, let him or her be the first to cast a stone.

We'd also like to remind about new additions to Xbox Game Pass. Madden NFL 2021 and Football Manager 2021 have been added to the service in recent days, and NBA 2K21, Star Wars: Squadrons and NHL 21 should be available soon. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will leave the offer in turn.
