Arthur Morgan Voice Actor Fed Up With Videos Featuring AI Singing in His Voice
Roger Clark, who is the voice of Arthur Morgan from Red Dead Redemption 2, does not wish AI made videos using his voice. The actor directly addressed the problem.
Artificial intelligence is developing at a very fast pace and has both supporters and opponents. It is pleasant to watch videos in which well-known celebrities and game characters act out scenes or sing with "their" AI-generated voice, but the actors themselves have a problem with this type of work, as I wrote recently. Roger Clark, the voice of Arthur Morgan from Red Dead Redemption 2, decided to add his two cents on this issue.
Arthur Morgan is not fond of AI videos
Recently, an increasing number of videos have been appearing on the web in which characters known from games sing popular songs. Among them, there is no shortage of creations using the voice of Roger Clark, who plays Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2. Both the actor and his distinctive tone of voice are easily recognizable, and for this reason they find their way into remakes like "Arthur Morgan sings XYZ".
Roger Clark isn't a big fan of such works. In one of his videos, he referred to a comment made by a fan who wrote: "I bet Roger Clark isn't too fond of all those videos where he sings." The actor said it was true and described such works as plagiarism, then added that recently more and more artists are rebelling against the use of artificial intelligence in such a way.
He addressed the final part of his statement to the creators of such videos using AI and used words that would perfectly fit Arthur Morgan.
"If you continue to create such garbage, I promise you that soon you will have nothing left but this."
Red Dead Redemption 2 is immensely popular around the world, and the cast includes quite a few distinctive characters. Therefore, it is not surprising that videos using artificial intelligence also use the voices of characters such as Dutch, John and Micah..
- Dutch Van Der Linde sings Freebird by the band Lynyrd Skynyrd
- John Marston sings Fly Me to the Moon by Frank Sinatra
- Micah Bell sings Pale Rider by the band Heavy Horses
Finally, I will address the issue of the problem that artists have with the use of their image by AI models. Reading the comments under the text on objections of actors, I came across words with which I fully agree. They were written by one of the users of our website.
"This is not a question of the future, just of legal regulations. Just as it is forbidden to use someone's image without their consent, they should also add their voice to it (if it is not already regulated somewhere). Some artists have consented to the use of their voice in AI generators, but the rest may not wish it - which is understandable."
