Apple Currently Owns Over 25% of the CPU Market
Another edition of the usual hardware survey appeared on Steam. It shows that AMD already controls over 25% of the CPU market. The data also indicates stagnation in VR goggle sector.
IN A NUTSHELL:
- AMD controls 25.59% of the CPU market;
- VR market is stagnating - since July the number of goggles connected to Steam accounts has hardly changed;
- The GeForce GTX 1060 continues to be the dominant GPU, although its position is gradually weakening.
Another hardware survey has been published on Steam. It shows which components are used by the platform's users. There is some interesting information to draw from the data. Perhaps most interesting is the fact that AMD already controls 25.59% of the CPU market. The number of users choosing a CPU with eight physical cores is growing (0.62% increase over the previous month).
Another interesting detail is the condition of the VR goggle market. The number of goggles connected to Steam accounts has hardly budged since July (when it reached a record 1.93%, while now it is 1.88%). It seems that after excellent results in the first and second quarter of 2020 (largely related to the launch of the shooter Half-Life: Alyx), VR has stagnated. The most popular models are the Oculus Rift S (24.93%), HTC Vive (20.41%) and Valve Index (16.41%).
Among graphics cards, the GeForce GTX 1060 is still the most popular, although its position is gradually weakening (-0.38%). The next few places are also occupied by the Pascal family (GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and GeForce GTX 1050). The only representative of the AMD GPUs is the Radeon RX 580, which can be found in the tenth position.
