AMD: Big Navi GPU to Debut Before PS5 and new Xbox
Devinder Kumar - AMD's CFO - informed that the company's new flagship GPU, the so-called Big Navi, will appear on the market before PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles.
IN A NUTSHELL:
- Big Navi will debut before PS5 and XSX;
- This will most likely mean release in September or October;
- At about the same time Ryzen 4000 will debut on the market.
AMD has confirmed that the so-called Big Navi - the new flagship GPU of the company, dedicated to the most demanding players - will be the first product based on RDNA 2 architecture to appear on the market. The PS5 GPU and Xbox Series X - also based on RDNA 2 - will debut only after that (via VideoCardz).
“There’s a lot of excitement for Navi 2, or what our fans have dubbed as the Big Navi. Big Navi is a halo product (most likely the so-called marketing halo effect - the release of a well-received product, in this case Big Navi, makes the brand value increase in the eyes of customers). Enthusiasts love to buy the best, and we are certainly working on giving them the best,” said AMD's CFO, Devinder Kumar.
This means that the release of this GPU will take place at the end of this year - in September or October at the latest, as experts expect the ninth generation consoles to hit stores in October or November). AMD's representative also confirmed that Zen 3-based processors will also be released at the same time (referred to as Ryzens 4000).
"We are on track to launch our next-generation Zen 3 CPUs and RDNA 2 GPUs in late 2020," said Kumar.
We would like to remind that, according to recent reports, the new GPUs are expected to offer much better performance. We also know that they will have hardware ray tracing support.
