Temuera Morrison will return to the Star Wars universe in Ahsoka. He will be the first live-action version of Captain Rex.
Temuera Morrison is an actor whom Star Wars fans associate with such productions as The Mandalorian or The Book of Boba Fett. Although not long ago the star complained that no one had called him about participating in the third installment of the show with Pedro Pascal, today it appears that Morrison has no reason to be dissatisfied. For, as reported by CBR, the actor has joined the cast of Ahsoka.
The star will play the role of Captain Rex and his creation will be the first live-action version of this character. Recall that the aforementioned character made his screen debut in the 2008 animated show Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and was voiced by Dee Bradley Baker.
Captain Rex is a clone soldier loyal to to the Republic, whose designation was CT-7567, and was one of the best fighters in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. His first commander was Anakin Skywalker. Captain Rex, was one of the few clones that did not execute Order 66 - as his chip had been deactivated earlier, while he took the side of morality. According to one Star Wars fan theory, the character was part of a group of Rebels who helped disable the Death Star's force field in Return of the Jedi.
Captain Rex was also friends with Jedi commander Ahsoka Tano, on whom the upcoming show focuses. What will their relationship look like in the upcoming production? We will find out in a few months, as the show is scheduled to premiere in August 2023.
