'It's Essential' Ahsoka's Actress Explains What You Need to Watch Before the Show Premieres
In order to better understand the story that will be presented in Ahsoka, the actress lending her voice to the Jedi in the animated shows revealed what to watch before the live-action show premieres.
Although we first saw Ahsoka Tano in a live-action show in the second season of The Mandalorian, this iconic character was introduced into the Star Wars universe many years earlier. The story of Anakin Skywalker's padawan was much more explored in the animated series, where her role was played by Ashley Eckstein. With the upcoming premiere of Ahsoka the actress gave an interview to CinemaBlend.
During the conversation Eckstein confessed that familiarity with productions such as The Clone Wars, Rebels and Tales of the Jedi may prove to be extremely helpful during the screening of the upcoming live-action show.
"[...] Recommended to anyone who is excited about Ahsoka, is to take the time to watch The Clone Wars, Rebels, and even Tales of the Jedi. If you don't, you won't know the essential stories that you should know to fully enjoy Ahsoka. We will get so many new and amazing storylines, but without this background and awareness of who Ahsoka or other characters are, you will not have the same understanding and appreciation of the events of the series. That's why I'm very happy that The Clone Wars, Rebels and Tales of the Jedi are available on Disney+. Whenever I get a chance, I tell the fans: 'Watch them before you watch the Ahsokaseries'. It's really gonna matter," she explained.
What episodes to watch before the premiere of Ahsoka?
As Eckstein stated, the best way would be to see all the episodes of Rebels as well as The Clone Wars. However, we realize that not everyone feels up to the task of getting acquainted with the several seasons' worth of shows.
Therefore, to get more information related to Ahsoka, you should watch first of all episodes 10, 18, 20, 21 and 22 of the second season of Rebels. And if you want to get better acquainted with the supporting characters that will appear in the upcoming show, it is recommended to watch the last seven episodes of the fourth season of the animation.
In turn, in The Clone Wars the fifth season and episodes 17-20 are crucial, answering the question of why Ahsoka left the Jedi Order. Meanwhile, the seventh season and episodes 5-12 depict the events of Revenge of the Sith from the perspective of Anakin's former padawan.
The most recent of the animated features is Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi. The production has only lived to see one season so far, with episodes 1, 5 and 6 dealing with Ahsoka.
As a final reminder Ahsoka will debut on Disney+ as early as August 23.
