Age of Wonders 4 is the most recent addition to the well-known turn-based strategy game series. You can either choose from a range of existing factions or create your own empire from scratch. As you journey through magical worlds filled with perilous creatures, constructing outposts and capturing cities becomes a crucial tactic for expanding your domain and achieving triumph. At some point you have to annex new provinces and Ancient Wonders. In this guide we will tell you how to do it.

How to annex Provinces and Ancient Wonders in AoW4

In Age of Wonders 4 you can annex new provinces and Ancient Wonders in the same way:

  1. You must have a city in the vicinity, if you don’t have one, you need to create it. How to establish an Outpost and later a town is described here.
  2. The city has to have a free population. Your towns generate it every few turns (based on your food level and its size).
  3. Click on the town, provinces available to colonize will glow green and “tears” will appear over them. They determine the type of the building to construct.
  4. It is important to notice that some terrains are special and have unique buildings like mines, Ancient Wonders or resources. These provinces are especially important to annex, as they will provide various bonusses.
  5. If you want to have bigger range of annexation, you have to build City Halls. There are few levels of this building.
