Aegon's Conquest from HBO? It Looks Like We Will Get the Most Anticipated Game of Thrones Spin-Off
Is HBO working on another story from the Game of Thrones universe? It looks like there's a chance that the highly anticipated production about Aegon's conquest will be made.
HBO is constantly working on new ideas for expanding the Game of Thrones universe. After the main series, we got the successful House of the Dragon, and in addition to that, the network is also developing other projects, some of which may be produced one day. And as The Hollywood Reporter reports, this may include a brand-new story that fans have long been waiting for. It’s about the time of Aegon's conquest, when the Targaryens fought bloody battles in Westeros.
The story would focus on Aegon Targaryen, who conquered Westeros with his two sister wives, Rhaenys and Visenya, and their dragons. Aegon managed to conquer and unite six of the Seven Kingdoms in just two years – the only one that managed to resist was Dorne.
HBO has teamed up with Mattson Tomlin, who helped on Matt Reeves' The Batman and is now also working on the sequel. Other projects in which the screenwriter has been involved include an adaptation of Keanu Reeves' comic book BRZRKR and the animated Terminator.
THR's source reports that with this project HBO wants to get "back to basics" of the fantasy series based on George R.R. Martin's novels.
In addition to House of the Dragon, HBO has greenlit A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, which will tell the story of Dunk and Egg. Production is expected to begin this year.
