Not Silent Hill, But Metal Gear Suggested by New Leak About Abandoned
Gamers are still speculating about Abandoned from Blue Box Games. A recent leak from a relatively reliable source suggests that it won't be Silent Hill (as some thought), but a new installment or a remake of the Metal Gear series.
For several months now, gamers have been wondering what Project Abandoned is. The game developed by Blue Box Game Studios first attracted interest as a possible return of the Silent Hill series, but those rumors were quickly dismissed. Now, however, speculation has surfaced that Abandoned could be... Metal Gear Solid 6. The source is former Russian journalist Anton Logvinov (now head of FXA Studios) - the same one who first wrote about the possibility of Horizon: Zero Dawn being released on PC.
According to Logvinov, Konami has been working for a long time on either a new installment stealth action game series or on a remake of one of the series' installments, and Abandoned bears a suspicious resemblance to it. Perhaps he's referring to the game's recent teaser in the form of a blurry graphic featuring a character that some want to associate with Kojima's well-known Big Boss.
It should be recalled, however, that back in June Blue Box Game denied any connection to Hideo Kojima or Konami. In any other case, this would be reason enough to outright dismiss any unofficial reports on the subject. Especially when those boil down to a de facto "may or may not be" and Abandoned's genre, which was announced as a survival horror game, doesn't really relate to Metal Gear Solid (at least as a whole). Nevertheless, Logvinov's earlier confirmed leak makes us cautiously consider the reliability of the Russian's information.
The companion app, which can already be downloaded from PlayStation Store as part of the so-called pre-load, should dispel any doubts, but we won't see anything more in it until August 10 and in the weeks to follow. Abandoned is coming to PlayStation 5 and perhaps - as suggested by the creators - on PC.
