A new Path of Exile expansion slated for 2020
Path of Exile roadmap for 2019 is here. The game will receive 4 major updates this year, and a new expansion has been announced for 2020.
IN A NUTSHELL:
- Path of Exile will receive four major updates in 2019;
- One more full-fledged extension – corresponding to the size of the Fall of Oriath and Betrayal – will release in 2020.
Grinding Gear Games studio shared its development plans for the hack’n’slach Path of Exile with the fans. According to a note published on the official website of the game, the next major expansion is expected only in 2020. But that doesn't mean that we won't be getting any content by then – the developers plan to update their game regularly, introducing new challenges, features and skills. Further patches are to be released in March (v3.6.0), June (v.3.7.0), September (v3.8.0) and December (v3.9.0).
While working on the 2019 updates, we also hope to make significant progress on the 4.0.0 mega-expansion, likely coming sometime in 2020. For those unfamiliar with our version numbering system, once we have released update 3.9.0, we aren't forced to number the next one 4.0.0. For example, the version after 3.9.0 (March 2020) is 3.10.0, as we do not expect to release 4.0.0 in the first part of next year. Development of 4.0.0 is a massive task and is absolutely affected by our desire to continue to release sizeable leagues at our usual pace, so we are taking our time and making sure it's ready before we decide on a release date, as we read in the note.
We would like to remind you that the latest expansion to Path of Exile – Betrayal – debuted in December on PC and Xbox One. The expansion allows the players to face the mysterious Immortal Syndicate. It's also worth mentioning that Grinding Gear Games' hack'n'slash will soon be released on PlayStation 4. The game will make its debut on Sony’s console next month.
