Handful of Details On Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered. Devs Discuss Gameplay and Graphics Novelties
Right before the release of Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered, the developers from Aspyr Media studio have shared a lot of information about the refreshed classic trilogy.
Before the February release of Tomb Raider Iâ??III Remastered, developers from Aspyr Media discussed their work. In an extensive entry on the PlayStation blog, the creators described in detail the process of refreshing the trilogy that generations of gamers grew up with.
At the beginning, the authors explained that their main goal was to preserve what made the audience love the adventures of Lara Croft decades ago.
We had a firm belief that the gameplay of Tomb Raider I, II, and III is timeless, and with our use of the existing source code, we had every jump, secret, enemy, and puzzle exactly as the original development team designed and intended. (Chris Bashaar, Director of Product at Aspyr)
Despite this, the creators have introduced a number of novelties and quality-of-life improvements that will contribute to an even better interaction with cult productions.
- One of the main features of the project is the function of instantly switching graphics between the original and revamped ones.
- Same goes for controls. Players will be able to choose the classic variant, with "tank" controls, or an option in which the right analog stick is responsible for panning the camera and giving Lara direction.
- In addition to this, we will get boss health bars and three-dimensional items in the game (e.g. first aid kits and ammunition), which in the original titles were displayed as 2D graphics.
- Interestingly, players will be able to earn as many as 200 trophies while playing.
- Aspyr Media also bring the photographic mode and real-time lighting.
- Improved character models, including Lara Croft, complete the picture.
