Fan Improved Remake of Iconic Dragon Quest 3 on PC
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, one of this year's best jRPGs, has received the DQ3Fix modification, which fixes some of the problems plaguing the PC version of the game.
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, a new version of one of the most important JRPGs in the history of the genre, was recently released on Steam. Especially for PC gamers, this is a great treat, since the 1988 original and its later re-releases were only available on consoles. The refreshed version of this classic proved to be quite popular - the record for activity on Steam, set shortly after its release, was 45,357 players playing simultaneously, which is the highest score for a singleplayer RPG released by Square Enix. The PC release is not without its flaws, however, as is well demonstrated by the fact that on Steam it has only 70% positive reviews. A moder called Lyall decided to fix some of the game’s problems.
The result of his work is the DQ3Fix mod. First of all, the project allows the removal of the fps limit. It also lets you freely configure the resolution, thus providing support for all monitors, including ultra-widescreen. This is done very well - not only does the Field of View (FOV) correctly adjust to any aspect ratio, but also HUD elements are always properly centered.
The mod also gives the player the ability to skip the intro movies, as well as activate the developers’ console, allowing you to enable a wide variety of options that are not normally available through the menu.
DQ3Fix is currently at a very early stage of development. The latest version of the modification is numbered 0.0.2, and Lyall has plans for further improvements to be added in future editions of the mod.
