40-man WoW Classic Boss Raid Cleared by Two Players
Two WoW Classic players managed to defeat Onyxia - a boss that is meant to challenge a 40-man raid - without any additional help.
IN A NUTSHELL:
- WoW Classic players Gendisarray and Shiftus defeated Onyxia, a boss for a 40-man raid, in a two-man team;
- The battle lasted 57 minutes and involved a warrior and a cleric.
Two World of Warcraft Classic players - warrior Gendisarray and cleric Shiftus - managed to defeat a boss that is normally an opponent for a group of 40 (via WoWHead). What's more, we're talking about a foe of considerable strength - a dragon named Onyxia, who boasts as many as 1.8 million life points and was considered one of the toughest challenges in WoW in the past.
The clash lasted 57 minutes, with positioning and resource management (including a veritable mountain of mana potions consumed by the cleric during the fight) playing the key role. Interestingly, in some ways Onyxia proved to be an easier enemy to defeat than when a 40-man raid was fighting her (with only two people on the battlefield, it was easier to dodge the dragon's powerful tail attacks, for example).
Admittedly, this is no small accomplishment, and shows how much World of Warcraft players have learned since the game's release in 2004. Bosses, which once seemed to be an insurmountable challenge, pose no big problem today for an experienced guild, or even - as we can see on the example of Gendisarray and Shiftus - a coordinated two-person group. The whole fight with Onyxia is available on Twitch.
