Audiences said goodbye to the Back to the Future series in 1990, when the third and final installment was released. It seemed that Michael J. Fox would not return to his iconic role again, yet in 2020, before he retired due to progressive Parkinson's disease, he once again showed up as Marty McFly in an surprising cameo, which he confessed was filmed in his office.

His appearance, which many fans may not have known about, took place in the teaser for musician Lil Nas X's Christmas song, Holiday. Fox appears at the end of the trailer referencing Back to the Future along with a warning: " Whatever you do, Nas, don't go to 2020."

As a guest on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Fox talked about how this unusual collaboration came about. It turned out that it was his children who convinced him to take part in this project.

My kids went crazy. They’re young adults. They went crazy. They’re like, ‘You have to do this. If you do nothing else this year, you do this’ and I did it. I hadn’t met Lil Nas yet, but when they came to shoot the video they were great. They shot it right here in my office and it was great.

As you can see, the actor is pleased with this collaboration and the opportunity to return to the role of Marty McFly, for which he is beloved around the world. And looking at the comments under the video, it can be seen that also Michael J. Fox fans are delighted with this unexpected cameo and are happy that the actor once again showed up in the iconic role after so many years.
