1990s-style adventure game Kathy Rain is out and has a demo
If you like old-school LucasArts-style adventure games, Kathy Rain may be something for you. The title is out now along with a free demo.
Fans of old-school point-and-click adventure games will be happy to know they can now add another item to their collection. Clifftop Games’ Kathy Rain is officially out on Steam, GOG, Humble Store, and several other digital distribution platforms (GOG has it the cheapest of the three). Old timers will surely appreciate the game being set in 1995 (90s for the win!) and telling an eerie story of a strong-willed young journalist investigating a mystery surrounding her recently deceased grandfather. Watch the launch trailer to get the gist of the plot:
Other highlights of Kathy Rain include more than 4,000 lines of English dialogue, fully voiced under the watchful eye of Wadjet Eye Games’ Dave Gilbert, more than 40 hand-drawn backgrounds and pixel art graphics. Currently, the users’ reviews are positive and vary from “a decent adventure game” to “good old fun”. It seems that if you liked LucasArts’ Full Throttle or the Wadjet Eye’s Blackwell series, Kathy Rain is probably something you should try as well. But you don’t have to take anyone’s word for it – the game has a free demo available on Steam and GOG.
