10th WoW DLC May Focus on Dwarves; BlizzCon Will Provide Answer
If not pirates, then maybe dwarves? WoW fans do not stop running conjectures about the content of the 10th expansion. There's a good chance that this time they finally got it.
It's been almost a year since the release of the Dragonflight DLC for World of Warcraft. This, as well as the upcoming BlizzCon, enables us to presume that Blizzard will soon announce the tenth expansion for the iconic MMORPG. It will most likely be done by Chris Metzen himself - one of the fathers of WoW, who was recently announced as the creative director of the Warcraft universe.
Unsurprisingly, fans have been wondering for some time what setting the new expansion will take them to. Speculation that it would take on a pirate theme, was quickly quashed by Blizzard's current chief executive, Mike Ybarra. "No pirates," he wrote on Twitter/X. However, fans already have a new lead. It's dwarves.
Where did this conjecture come from? Reddit user Viraneus came across several achievements in the game's files, which have not yet been implemented into WoW. Some of them appear to be related to the mobile Warcraft Rumble - which is due for release next year - but the attention of both Viraneus and the community has been drawn to posts that read: "Storm Rider: Bronze," "Storm Rider: Silver," "Storm Rider: Gold" and "Heroic Edition: Algarian Stormrider."
Fans have begun to speculate that the achievements may be linked to Khaz Algar, a location that was mentioned in the Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr dungeon, introduced in Dragonflight (it's all about the presence of the word "Algar" in both names). What's more, the community noted in comments on Reddit that in updates 10.1 and 10.2 for WoW there was more content related to dwarves, e.g. Stormrider's Stormhammer - according to Warcraft's lore a weapon used by dwarven griffin riders.
This leads to the conclusion that we may be dealing with a mount that will either be made available on the occasion of BlizzCon or will make its way to World of Warcraft as part of a new expansion. Perhaps only for those who choose to purchase the Heroic Edition of the DLC? Either way, the link between this item and dwarves seems more than certain (as long as Mike Ybarra doesn't write "no dwarves" in a moment).
We'll have to wait until BlizzCon for more information. Fortunately, there is only a month left until that event - it will take place on November 3-4. In addition to the future of WoW we can expect the announcement of a new character for Overwatch 2, information about the third season in Diablo IV, fresh content for Hearthstone or more details about the aforementioned Warcraft Rumble.
