Zombie Pirates is the first game created by independent studio Dust Devil. Developers from Arizona have decided to combine two extremely fashionable topics - pirates and zombies - in a humorous, casual strategy with elements of adventure.
The main character of the game is Smiling Jack O'Hurlihan. An indefatigable pirate decides to defend the Flickering Seas against the terrible Georg, his fleet of zombie pirates, gigantic monsters from the depths and the mysterious Red Widow. His friends, Dr. Theopolis and the tempting Esmerald, help him in this task.
The game is based on simple assumptions. Playing the role of Jack, the player crosses the seas, taking on more and more difficult challenges. These take the form of sea battles fought in real time. To win you have to sink all enemy units. The loss occurs automatically if the zombies sail to the left side of the board or destroy Jack's Sun Flower ship. The reward for sunken enemy ships are power-up boxes, allowing for example to repair some of the damage, use a bomb or summon a pirate ship to help.
Zombie Pirates is distinguished by the cartoon style of the visual setting. Two-dimensional graphics in the game attracts attention for the issue of intense colors. Developers were also tempted by a large number of animated interludes and professional, acting dubbing of characters.
