XField Paintball 3 PC

XField Paintball 3 for PC combines elements of tactical shooters and sports games; it was developed by XField Paintball SAS. As the title suggests, the game gives an opportunity to take part in multiplayer competitions based on the official rules of paintball. XField Paintball 3 was created in cooperation with professional paintballers, as well as video-gamers themselves, whose suggestions were taken into account when preparing the post-release updates.

Mechanics

The game is played from the first-person view and the action takes place on different maps. Depending on the scenario, the player can find both battlefields created from scratch and representations of official arenas. Two teams consisting of up to 5 players each compete against one another in order to take control over the entire territory at the least possible expense.

Developing an adequate strategy and being able to coordinate one's actions constitute the key to success in this game. Before a match begins, a captain has to be chosen for the team. The captain's goals are to create tactics, mark the starting positions for the team members, as well as to assign roles they will be supposed to fulfill during a match. The contestants can be the so-called Rushers (they are the first to engage in combat; moving 10% faster than others, they pose a considerable threat to the adversaries), the Shooters (they are supposed to play in a more tactical way and shoot with greater precision), or the Tacticians – in a way, they are the eyes and ears of the entire team; their role is to monitor the situation on the battlefield.

A special system of reporting is what allows the team members to communicate with one another. The number of reports for each round is limited though. However, the Tacticians have wider communication possibilities, as they can inform the team members about the enemies' positions. It is worth to remember, that the player can get hit by an enemy even when using a cover, because the game uses a special engine that makes sure the bullets fly in a realistic manner.

Technical aspects

XField Paintball 3 for PC is relatively poor in terms of the visuals. Neither the in-game weapons nor the environmental objects are sufficiently detailed. Over time, the game gained support for VR goggles, but using such is not required.
