X4: Kingdom End PC

X4: Kingdom End is the fourth major expansion to the space sim X4: Foundations. The expansion introduces the Boron - an aquatic race known from the series' previous installments. It was, once again, developed by Egosoft.

Plot

The sudden appearance of flickering lights on an inactive jump gate in the Heretic's End sector cause concern among the largest galactic factions. A multi-racial expedition is thus sent out to investigate the mysterious phenomenon. Its members must put cultural differences and personal matters aside and cooperate to succeed.

Mechanics

X4: Kingdom End expansion mostly focuses on the Boron. The race is known for its peaceful disposition, reluctance to conflict and highly developed tech. Its origins are perfectly represented by their graceful space stations and vehicles resembling aquatic creatures.

The new available units include the powerfully-armed Ray destroyer and the Shark carrier, which can tilt the balance of any battle with its ability to dock and launch smaller units.

Keeping in with the idea behind the entire series, the expansion lets the player freely explore space.

Technical aspects

X4: Kingdom End isn't a standalone expansion and requires the base version of X4: Foundations to function.
