WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 is an advanced wrestling simulation produced by Yuke's development studio specializing in this type of games. Players can play as WWE's favourite wrestlers (The Undertaker, Mr. Kennedy, John Cena, Matt Hardy and Randy Orto, among others) and take part in spectacular duels. New to the series is the Create-A-Finisher editor, which allows you to create your own combinations of blows ending the fight.

Each of the characters has different special abilities and their personalities are based on those of the real wrestlers.
