WRC 3 is the third, as the title indicates, installment of the popular series of racing games based on 100% World Rally Championship license. The game was prepared by Evolution Studios, the publisher is Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.

If you're going to make a rally game, you should do it properly - and that means basing it meticulously on the real sport. As the only game to sport the official WRC licence, WRC3 brings the excitement of the 2003 season to PS2 - including this year's new event, held in Turkey.

Evolution Studios, the game's developer, has managed to add yet more visual sheen to the action, making the rallying look increasingly realistic. New damage models allow the cars to react to the environment in a convincing fashion, with bodywork and glass being torn and smashed from the car if you fail to pay proper attention to your co-driver's advice. The higher attention to detail extends to car handling and even fully working in-car instrumentation, all helping to raise the level of immersion still further.

Another area of the game to receive major improvements for the latest version is the environments you scream through on your quest to become World Rally Champion. This year, they're even bigger, and really bring home the feeling of testing your car to the limits in the wilderness. There are also more built-up areas to hurtle through, with more buildings, bridges and tunnels making each event feel truly distinct. New graphical effects and features, such as packed roadsides featuring crowds who react to your performance, make this the most convincing rally game you'll find.
