Wizardry V: Hart of the Maelstrom is the fifth full-fledged version of the cult RPG series, launched in 1981 on Apple II computers. Sir-Tech studio is responsible for the creation and development of the series, and its next episode - after the innovative fourth part - is a return to the solutions known from the first three installments of the cycle.
The action of the game continues the event described in the original Wizardry trilogy. Despite the defeat of Trebor, Verdna and the dragon L'kbreth, the land of Llylgamyn is once again going through difficult times. This time the evil grew in immeasurable tunnels, located under the city temple. The player-controlled team must therefore reunite and cross the underground corridors to find and summon a Gatekeeper - the only person able to stop the forces of evil. Unfortunately, he was imprisoned by the evil sorceress Sorn, which is associated with a whole series of dangerous adventures, including the final competition with Sorn herself and her team.
After the innovative fourth part, Wizardry V is a return to the solutions known from the first three installments of the cycle. In the game we again have control over the whole team, which runs through multi-level underground corridors. It can be both a team created from scratch, as well as imported from previous parts of the game. As before, we also have the opportunity to visit the city periodically, where you can replenish supplies and regain lost health. Compared to its predecessors, the game offers much larger underground, new character classes and previously unavailable spells. The system of fighting and interaction with encountered monsters has also been significantly expanded.
