Wizardry: The Legacy of Oblivion, known in Japan as Wizardry: Boukyaku no Isan, is the next installment of a long series of classic RPGs released in the Land of the Cherry Blossom. The Legacy of Oblivion is the third part of Wizardry released on Nintendo DS; together with its predecessor Wedge of Life, it is part of a project called Wizardry Renessaince, a series of games and other media to refresh the long-running series. Legacy emerged from the stables of two Japanese companies; Suzak as a developer and Genterprise as a publisher, who previously worked together to release many smaller games on DSiWare, known collectively as the G.G. Series.
Legacy continues the classic gameplay known from almost all previous scenes; we lead a group of six daredevils through the corridors filled with various creatures and explore the nooks and crannies of dungeons in the typical style of the genre. The mechanics of the game uses the same functions of the DS as Wedge of Life - on the lower screen we can see the right game, while the upper screen plays an informative role - we can find images and statistics of our heroes, map of the location, etc. The game's mechanics uses the same functions of the DS as Wedge of Life - on the lower screen we can see the right game, while the upper screen plays an informative role - we can find images and statistics of our heroes, map of the location, etc. The game's main role is the same as on the lower screen. Compared to its predecessor, the Legacy has been extended to include new types of dungeons and opponents - more than 190 new types of monsters, some of which can only be found when the game is played again. The authors have also made several corrections to the system, such as an improved menu tree or an auto-walk function, in which the computer controls the movements of the heroes until they come across an event during exploration, such as fighting an opponent, finding an object or discovering an interactive element such as a lever.
The graphic style is almost the same as its Japanese predecessors from the Nintendo portable console - the game presents three-dimensional locations, which we observe from the first person's view. Colourful and detailed illustrations of the opponents, reminiscent of the classic western RPG-i contrast with the manga characters of our team, as well as with those that we will have to meet on our way.
