Witchaven II: Blood Vengeance is a continuation of a successful RPG action, set in fantasy climates, released less than 10 months after the premiere of "one". The game was created by the same team and, like the precursor, works on Ken Silverman's 3D Realms designed engine Build. This engine turned out to be a breakthrough for the development of FPP games, driving such hits as Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior, Redneck Rampage or Blood.
Witchaven II takes place directly after the events known from the first part of the game. During the holiday in honor of defeating the forces of evil and demonic Queen Illwhyrin, our hero, Grondoval, falls asleep. After awakening, she learns that the mighty witch Cirae-Argoth came to avenge her sister's death by kidnapping her beloved Grondoval, Princess Elizabeth, and many compatriots of our protoplasty. Without delay, Stazhii's hero sets off to confront the surviving Cirae-Agoth demons' army and defeat the sorceress herself in the final game.
As in the original, we are dealing with a first-person action game with RPG elements. We use conventional weapons such as swords, axes, arches, knives and halberds, as well as a variety of extremely effective spells to make our way to our target among the hosts of ever stronger enemies. The experience points gained in combat are invested in the development of our hero, increasing his strength, speed or endurance and gaining access to new, more powerful spells.
Graphics went through only a small cosmetic, correcting minor imperfections of the predecessor. The most important change introduced in the second installment of Witchaven is the possibility to use two weapons at the same time (each in a different hand) or to choose from one weapon and shield. This is an important change, in the context of the level of difficulty, increased in relation to the original. Multiplayer options remain unchanged - we can still compete on the local network with up to 16 people at the same time. However, the authors have implemented a level editor, which allows you to create your own levels from scratch.
