Winter Sports 2010 - The Great Tournament is a sports production developed by the 49Games development studio in Hamburg for the RTL Entertainment. With the 2010 release, the Winter Sports cycle undergoes a metamorphosis caused by the fact that it was released on X360, PS3 and Wii.

Game modes

One of its elements is to place only eight competitions in Winter Sports 2010 - The Great Tournament (the previous edition had eighteen of them). The main reason for such a radical change was the desire to refine each discipline as much as possible. In the game, we get a chance to play as a figure skater, bobsleigh crew, snowboarder participating in snowcross competitions, alpine skier (downhill), ski jumper, biathlonist, freestyle skier, as well as a fast skater (short-track).

The main mode of Winter Sports 2010 - The Great Tournament is a career divided into sixteen competitions (two for each competition). We compete with representatives of four countries. Representatives of one of the nationalities play the role of our main opponents, more difficult to defeat than other athletes. For victories, we receive not only medals and awards, but also experience points. We can use them both to improve our skills and the equipment we use during the competition.

In Winter Sport 2010 - The Great Tournament we can also take part in a single challenge, thus improving our own skills. There is also a multiplayer mode for up to four people (split screen and hot-seat options). The competition, for the first time in the history of the series, can also be fought over the Internet.

Technical aspects

The gameplay system has been completely rebuilt, although it is still based on solutions known to all fans of this type of sports games. Graphic design has also been improved - it is characterized by smoother animation, more details and more accurate textures (including those designed to imitate snow).
