The program offers an extensive campaign for a single person who throws a player into the whirlwind of air battles over North Vietnam. The user takes part in historical missions, starting with "Rolling Thunder". (1965-1968) and ending with Operation Linebacker II (1972). It must also break through the B-52 bomber through the Vietnamese anti-aircraft defense line during the 1972 Christmas air raids (the air battle that sowed the spectre of defeat over North Vietnam), take off from Kitty Hawka or upgraded Essex class aircraft carriers, and rise into the air from U.S. Air Force bases in Thailand, from where it attacks MIGCAP's North Vietnamese MIGi during MIGCAP operation. As a pilot of the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps or U.S. Navy, he conducts air-to-ground attacks on power plants, bridges, airports and ports and, by the way, wins medals and decorations associated with every successful mission. Manufacturers of Wings Over Vietnam have mapped twelve models of aircraft, including the Wings Over Vietnam: F-4 Phantom II, F-105 Thunderchief, A-4 Skyhawk, F-100 Super Sabre, A-6 Intruder, A-7 Corsair II and F-8 Crusader.
