Wartorn

Wartorn is a fantasy strategy enriched with clearly outlined roguelike elements. The production was developed by Stray Kite Studios - an independent development team, consisting of tw?rc?ves having in their output, among others, games from the Age of Empires, Borderlands and BioShock series.

Story

Wartorn takes us to the war-torn Talaur Islands. In the course of the game we play as Yara and Elani; being sisters, the heroines were expelled from their home, after which they set off on a journey to Beynun, their ancestral fortress, hoping to find refuge there.

Gameplay

Caravan and morale

In Wartorn, events are viewed from a bird's eye view. As we traverse the conflict-ridden land, we gradually increase our caravan. Over time, we are joined by such fantastic creatures as goblins, elves, demons or treefolk representatives.

Although the presence of companions increases the chances of the success of the entire expedition, it also generates r? additional responsibilities. This is because we have to pay attention to their morale, since the total loss of hope by the participants of the expedition entails its premature end and the need to start the adventure all over again.

Fighting

On the trail to the fortress of Beynun, we often have to face opponents. Clashes take place in real time and have a tactical bent, and we field troops for them, which we compose ourselves based on the skills, strengths and weaknesses of the units that make them up. Among them we can find, among others, melee warriors, archers and mages.

In addition, in combat we must use the elemental system implemented in the game - fire, water, tar, plants and lightning. An important role is also played by the positioning of troops on the battlefield. Because of the caravan's morale indicator and its crucial importance for the success of the expedition, we must do our best to avoid losses on the battlefield.

Along the way, the protagonists meet members of their family, who share their knowledge with them and endow them with souvenirs. The latter provide us with various benefits and abilities to use over the course of subsequent games.

Graphics

The graphic design of the Wartorn game is kept in a style reminiscent of canvas painting.
