Wars of Napoleon Description
Wars of Napoleon for PC is a turn-based strategy game focused on depicting history as it was. The game was developed by AGEOD, who specialize in this genre. The studio previously developed games such as Alea Jacta Est, March of the Eagles, Rise of Prussia or Napoleon's Campaigns.
Story
As the title suggests, Wars of Napoleon for PC recreates the historical period Napoleon. The game offers four different scenarios devoted to different parts of the wars. The Grand Campaign is the biggest of the four - it begins in 1805 and ends in 1815, which brings an ample playthrough. The other three are as follows: Austerlitz (1805), Battle of Jena (1806-1807) and Waterloo (1815).
Realism was of the essence for the creators, thus all the campaigns feature and depend on different kinds of factors that are unique for the given historical period. Alternative history scenarios can be created as well, because the player can set the outcomes of certain events manually.
Gameplay and Game modes
Wars of Napoleon for PC is a turn-based kind of a strategy game that requires the player to make choices on the operational grounds. Thus the player does not give orders to particular soldiers, but commands entire armies instead. Apart from being able to control the French army, the player also has access to the British, Spanish, Russian, Austrian, Prussian, and Ottoman armies. The game features a wide set of units that existed during the period in which the gameplay is set. These include both the land and naval units. The game focuses on depicting the specifics of war back in Napoleon's times, so real combat tactics used back then can be applied.
Apart from being able to command the armed forces effectively, it is necessary to take good care of the supply lines and obtain supplies by plundering the conquered territories. The player can also carry out reforms and improve the military, which influences their skills and uniforms. The generals are separate characters here, their carrier paths are in the hands of the player.
diplomacy is also a significant aspect of the game - the player can sign treaties and international agreements. Other AI-controlled nations can become the player's valuable allies. With their help, it is easier to succeed. All in-game events take place on a detailed map of Europe, containing over four thousand territories. These are complemented with a few special regions such as North America, Indies or Persia.
The game features multiplayer mode as well, in which up to seven players can meet.
