War of the Monsters is a title reminiscent in many ways of games such as Godzilla: Save the Earth. We are dealing here with a rather unusual fight, in which we take control over the monsters, bringing to mind beings known from many science-fiction films. Duels are usually rolled in urban areas. The most common problem is therefore considerable damage to the environment. It is also possible to use found items (e.g. vehicles) to inflict even more serious injuries on enemies. Incognito Studios, known for such titles as Twisted Metal: Black or Downhill Domination, is responsible for the production of this game. This game is for PS2 owners only, and after many years of digital editing on PlayStation 4, which can be purchased from PlayStation Store.
Despite the fact that there is a plot in the game, it plays virtually no role in the course of a proper game. Generally everything crashes for fighting between mutant creatures. We can take control over one of these creatures. Despite the lack of official licenses, the game contains many well-known monsters, so science fiction lovers should not have major problems with their recognition. These include huge gorillas, praying mantids and even flying robots. Despite the fact that the combat module itself is not too complicated, during the next duels you can go to many different games. Some creatures rely solely on melee combat. However, these creatures are rare. Most monsters have been given additional skills, such as the ability to attack their enemies from a distance. The option of lifting the opponent also appears. Special attacks look even more interesting. For example, a player can create a huge tsunami wave, or an earthquake that will bring other monsters down to earth.
We have at our disposal many different modes of play. Adventure Mode lets you take a closer look at the details of the creation of a creature of your choice. We fight strictly planned fights here, watching spectacular intermittent scenes at the same time. In Free for All and Endurance modes, up to four different creatures can take part in the clashes. There were also games based on the quickest possible elimination of opponents. War of the Monsters also includes a not very extensive multiplayer for two people. Visually the game looks very good. The fighting monsters are perfectly animated. The fully interactive environment, which can be significantly damaged, also turned out to be good.
