The developers introduced a number of historic campaigns that allow us to choose a side, as well as our duties on the battlefield – we can assume the role of a frontline soldier, or a general who controls the whole battle from the headquarters.

War of Rights for PC is an online first person shooter taking place during American Civil War. The game was developed by Campfire Games, for which War of Rights is a market debut.

Mechanics

The developers introduced a number of authentic campaigns, including Maryland Campaign that took place in September 1862 and had an utmost impact on the course of the whole war. The players can choose to aid both sides of the conflict, as well as different areas of expertise – we can enter the field as an ordinary soldier fighting in the first line, or as a general who has an active influence over the course of the battle. In such case, the player stays in the command center and undertakes strategic decisions by observing the map and analyzing the current situation of his allies and their enemies. Then, the orders have to be delivered in real time through the whole chain of command, until they reach the captains leading individual regiments. Interestingly enough, the players at any part of the chain can proceed with the order without asking any questions, or attempt to incite a mutiny and decide upon the further course of the action on their own if they have a better solution to the problem at hand.

War of Rights places a lot of emphasis on historical consistency. The soldiers are armed with real weapons and wear the same uniforms that were used during each campaign. Battles take place in authentic locations, with historical allotment of forces fielded by both Union and Confederacy. The game allows the players to recreate, among others, the Battle of Antietam, the turning point of the war (the defeat discouraged the British and French governments from any attempts of recognizing the Confederacy) and one of the most bloodiest battles in the history of the United States.

Technical Aspects

The game is powered by CryEngine, which is a guarantee of high-quality graphics. The developers focused on the environments – the world is highly detailed and looks quite realistic, which helps with the immersion.
