WAR, Inc. Description
WAR, Inc. is a forward-looking real-time strategy with a strong economic theme. In the game we play the role of the owner of a company employing mercenaries, and our duties include accepting new orders, searching for suitable people and supplying them with combat vehicles and armament. The title was developed by Optik Software studio, which has been little-known so far, and its publisher is Interactive Magic, specializing mainly in strategy and simulation games.
The game in WAR, Inc. takes place on several levels. The starting point is our office, where we take care of the economic side of each subsequent project. We can, for example, acquire and sell shares in various companies by selecting those that provide us with bonuses in the armaments field. Another important element is the technology tree, where our engineers work on further inventions, divided into several categories (hull, engine, weaponry, defense and targeting systems). Then we design and build the necessary vehicles and combat equipment from the developed elements. We can already accept new orders and start their practical implementation.
We are introduced to the game by a strategic map of the area where we deploy units and group them into troops. When our mercenaries are in the immediate vicinity of the target, the game takes us to the battle map, where the real time mission begins.
Compared to the greatest hits of the genre, WAR, Inc. graphics are a bit ascetic, as the creators focused mainly on mapping the elements important from the mission point of view. As part of the fiction campaign, we have 20 different orders to carry out. The possibility of playing a quick skirmish with a computer and competing in a multiplayer mode via the Internet or null-modem cable has not been forgotten either. Up to 6 people can take part in one game.
