Voor De Kroon PC

Voor De Kroon is a game with a sandbox action RPG and a turn-based strategy game elements similar to the Mount & Blade series. This indie game is a work of one man, who released his production under the banner of Future Minimalism studio.

Early access

On Dec. 9, 2022, Voor De Kroon made its debut as part of Steam's Early Access. Even then, the game was basically complete: players could conquer the entire virtual map within the campaign or test themselves in skirmishes against the artificial intelligence.

During Early Access, the developer focused primarily on getting player feedback, based on which it is improving the game, and fixing bugs and balancing gameplay (primarily combat). The developer also plans to beautify the visuals and animations and add more units.

In addition, Voor De Kroon will be more expensive when it comes out of early access.

Plot

Voor De Kroon takes us to medieval Holland during the 13th century and the Frisian-Dutch wars. Players are involved in a power struggle to establish and maintain their own kingdom.

Mechanics

As in the Mount & Blade series, the gameplay in Voor De Kroon is divided into two segments. On the one hand, we have strategic domain management. We look after our villages in a turn-based system, paying attention to the economic situation, but also to changing weather conditions and seasons.

However, when we go into battle, we directly control our character (observed from a third-person perspective) and give orders to soldiers. We can arrange the troops into battle formations, and if necessary, the game allows us to take direct control of a selected unit and observe the game world from its eyes (i.e. FPP).

Game modes

The developer of Voor De Kroon did not anticipate adding any form of multiplayer mode.

Technical aspects

Voor de Kroon was developed based on Unreal Engine technology. The developer decided to use a gloomy three-dimensional graphics, although compared to the early

access the game has acquired a bit more color.
