Volume is an independent project of Mike Bithell, the developer of the outstanding platformer – Thomas Was Alone. The production is a stealth game, which draws inspiration from the extremely popular Minecraft – a sandbox title from the Mojang AB studio.
In Volume we play the role of a criminal who travels through consecutive locations, filled with vigilant guards. Our task is to avoid alerting the watchmen and steal the valuable goods; to sneak past our bothersome enemies we can either stun or distract them. The gameplay, with the action shown from a bird’s-eye view, resembles the first installments of the Metal Gear series, as Volume is a classical stealth game, based on accomplishing various goals without arousing any suspicions from our opponents.
Volume features a very interesting element – a level editor, which allows you to create your own areas or modify the available locations. There are several hundred levels available and the ones you make on your own can be shared with the entire community; the process itself is extremely similar to the construction of structures in Minecraft.
The graphics of the production are quite simplistic; however, the excellent atmosphere makes up for the average visual quality. Volume is kept in a rather futuristic setting.
