Victorian Admirals: Marianas Incident 1887 is the work of the Russian Totem Games studio, specializing in turn-based marine strategies. As in the case of Victorian Admirals: Samoan Crisis - 1889 the creators decided on an ahistoric scenario.
The main theme of Victorian Admirals: Marianas Incident 1887 is the fictitious conflict over the Marian Islands. At the end of the 19th century, the United States was looking for a way to strengthen its position in the Pacific Ocean. The attention of the superpower is drawn to the areas controlled by Spain, whose attention is drawn to the events in Latin America. Nor are the European powers interested in supporting either side, which gives the Americans tacit consent to military action.
The main campaign is divided into a number of missions based on turn-based sea battles. Unlike the Ironclads cycle, the composition of the fleet is fixed in advance and there is no room for change. However, the creators made sure that under the player's command there are units with different armour, armour and other technical parameters (speed, manoeuvrability, etc.).
Victorian Admirals: Marianas Incident 1887 uses a modified version of the engine that was previously used in Ironclads games. It ensures good quality of the audio-visual setting with low hardware requirements.
