Second large expansion for the grand strategy game originally released by Paradox Interactive in 2022. Victoria 3: Sphere of Influence offers the new titular mechanic, allowing a group of countries to work towards the same ideological or economical goals.
Victoria 3: Sphere of Influence is an expansion to the grand strategy game released in 2022, titled Victoria 3. The add-on was developed by the authors of the original, namely the team specialized in this genre, Paradox Development Studio.
Mechanics
As the title suggests, Victoria 3: Sphere of Influence focuses on creating our own sphere of influence, including countries allied with us that pursue our economic or ideological goals. We can achieve this by using diplomacy, fighting for economic influence, resorting to bribery or even more forceful solutions.
The DLC introduces new functions related to investing in the development of countries not under our direct influence (to later profit from their successes). The new options include nationalizing foreign assets located in our country, interfering in domestic politics and finances of its vassals and protectorates, or interacting with various interest groups that can influence the foreign policy of individual entities.
In addition, "The Great Game" offers new events, diary entries, and decisions, the inspiration for which was the Russian-British rivalry in Central Asia. The game also allows us to lead one of the nations involved in the conflict, such as Persia or Afghanistan. The list of novelties is topped by new monuments related to the activities of our group of countries, as well as banners and emblems that it can use, and also historical elements, such as characters, companies, and events.
Technical aspects
Victoria 3: Sphere of Influence is not a standalone expansion, so it requires the base version of Victoria 3 to run.
