Uragun is a top-down shooter by Warsaw-based independent studio Kool2Play. The Polish developer, which was founded in 2014, has gained experience in game development by designing small titles. The team is responsible for, among others, Nice Slice, Clock Simulator, Dungeons & Aliens and Hyperide VR, which were created not only for PC, but also for Nintendo Switch and mobile devices with Android and iOS operating systems. The game debuted first in early access on the Steam.
Plot
The plot of the game Uraguna revolves around artificial intelligence, the development of which has used most of the resources on Earth. People's actions led to rising water levels across the globe, forcing them to move to safer areas. However, migration was not possible without machines controlled by artificial intelligence, which rebelled and decided to exterminate humanity.
The action of the game takes place in futuristic locations inspired by such cities as Barcelona, Berlin, Warsaw, New York, London and Beijing, where the hero sitting at the helm of a modern mech has to stop the aggressor in the form of devilishly intelligent machines and thus save the planet from catastrophe and being seized by AI.
Mechanics
Uragun is an easy-to-follow top-down shooter, which focuses on the extermination of robot waves controlled by artificial intelligence. Each of the machines was modeled on the behavior of humans and animals, and, and thus has a unique action during the skirmishes. Despite the arcade nature of the gameplay, the player sometimes needs to use different tactics. The mission objectives, although varied, are only an excuse to defeat numerous groups of opponents
Mech, which is controlled by the player, can eliminate robots in many different ways. This is because it was equipped with various types of weapons, including a flamethrower, and special shockwave attacks to facilitate victory over the prevailing enemy. In Uragun, there is also a rather thoughtful mech development system.
Game modes
The game offers two modes: a feature campaign and a sandbox mode, which allows you to freely fight with intelligent machines. Although Uragun is mainly designed for a single player, there is also cooperation mode on a shared/split screen.
Technical aspects:
Uragun has quite a simple visual setting, although during fights with machines the we can enjoy numerous explosions and other special effects. The locations to which the action moves are quite diverse in terms of environment and atmosphere.
