Under a Rock is a survival game set on an exotic island, where evolution took an entirely different course. It was developed by an indie studio Nordic Trolls.
Plot
Under a Rock is set in the early 19th century, on a beautiful, near otherwordly island. It's inhabited by curious natives and unique, peculiar creatures. We play as explorers trying to survive on the island.
Mechanics
Under a Rock is a third-person game. Before beginning our adventure we must create our character, determine their gender and appearance.
The game's vast, open world is procedurally generated, meaning every adventure is different. We'll come across beautiful coasts, jungles, dark caves; there's also a whole new world awaiting underwater. Though the island is beautiful, it's also dangerous. We can not only fight local wildlife, but also tame it and breed it, use as mounts and make use of their unique abilities.
That's not all, as the game features an extensive crafting system. Obtained resources can be used to produce useful equipment or build structures; it's up to us whether we'll wander around or create a home for ourselves. During downtime between exploration, we can take care of farming, fishing or cooking.
Game modes
Under a Rock supports singleplayer and co-op for up to ten people.
Technical aspects
Under a Rock runs on the Unreal Engine 5 and makes good use of it. The game features colorful, cartoonish graphics. The detailed, densely vegetated areas and creatively designed creatures are all very appealing.
