[1:06] Undead Horde trailer #1
Pure Nintendo: 5 / 10 by Seth Cano
While graphics and performance are flawless, Undead Horde has repetitive and routine gameplay that can't save it from its potential. The art style is amazing, so it is unfortunate it has to be ruined by mediocre gameplay. I'd say if you are looking for a game like Undead Horde, the best bet is saving up for the Diablo 3: Eternal Collection on Nintendo Switch.
Nindie Spotlight: 7.5 / 10 by Justin Nation
While I wouldn’t say Undead Horde is a revelation of any kind it does scratch a middle-of-the-road strategy itch and there aren’t many titles on the Switch like it...
SquareXO: 7 / 10 by Seb Hawden
I really enjoyed my time with this quirky little game. It does not overstay it’s welcome and was fun from start to finish. It’s a nice mix of different genres and I especially enjoyed raising an undead army and using them to quell my foes. The game has a nice steady stream of unlocks and new features to experience. Managing your undead army is fun, rewarding and combat does have some strategy and tactical nuances.
Undead Horde Description
Undead Horde is a hack'n'slash enriched with elements of strategy. The title was developed by the independent studio 10tons - authors of such games as Dysmantle, Tesla vs Lovecraft, Jydge or Neon Chrome.
Plot
Undead Horde takes us on a journey to a fantasy world. During the game we play as a necromancer - a representative of the profession cursed by ordinary mortals. In order to take revenge, the protagonist leads an army of the undead into battle, with the help of which he tries to subjugate the whole land.
Mechanics
In Undead Horde, the action is shown in isometric view. The adventure leads us through a variety of locations - from sun-burnt deserts to dense forests. Although we only control the main character directly during the game, the hero is constantly followed by a horde of up to a hundred living corpses, who support him in real-time battles, attacking his chosen targets. Among the dozen or so types of units that we create by resurrecting fallen adversaries or pulling the dead out of graves, we will find archers and bloodthirsty scorpions.
The game includes a character progression system. The combat potential of the necromancer and his armies is increased by gaining new levels of experience and acquiring procedurally generated elements of equipment such as weapons or magic items; unnecessary equipment can be disposed of by selling it to one of the merchants.
Technical aspects
Undead Horde features colorful three-dimensional visuals in the "low poly" style - its individual elements are based on a small number of clearly visible polygons.
