Umiro is the first game developed by Diceroll Studios, a team consisting of just a few members from Singapore. It was published by Devolver Digital, a well-known indie game publisher, known for e.g. Hotline Miami and Shadow Warrior.
Plot
The game tells the story of Huey and Satura. They find themselves in the eponymous world of Umiro, but don't remember anything about their past or how they got there. You task is to help them get their memories back.
Mechanics
Umiro is a logic puzzle game. You control both characters, and their task is to gather sacred crystals, which will allows them to regain their memories and bring the world back to life. The production features over forty maps with increasing difficulty level. On each map there are various obstacles and dangers, which you have to avoid when leading the way. The maps are small, but can be completed in various ways. The more adventurous players can try gathering extra crystals, but those can usually be found in the more dangerous places. This forces you to choose to either take the risk and try getting the highest score or take the safer path, which won't give you that much satisfaction.
Technical aspects
Visuals-wise, Umiro resembles the popular mobile game Monument Valley, although the levels are not as expansive and cannot be rotated. The game utilizes a bird's eye view.
