Ultratron is a 2D shoot'em up in which we play as a robot taking revenge on alien legions responsible for the destruction of the human race. The game was developed by the independent Puppy Games studio, known for such games as Titan Attacks! Droid Assault and Revenge of the Titans. Robotron: 2084, which debuted in 1982, was a huge inspiration for Ultratron.
Plot
In Ultratron, players take on the role of a combat droid, who, after the aliens have completely wiped out the human race, decides to take revenge on the oppressors.
Mechanics
The action in Ultratron is shown in 2D. Each level is a small enclosed arena that fills almost the entire screen, with waves of enemies appearing. As in other titles of the genre, we control the direction of movement and shooting independently. The creators have prepared more than 40 levels in which we fight hordes of diverse enemies, using, e.g. powerful lasers and exploding missiles. From time to time, we will also have to deal with exceptionally strong bosses. Between successive levels, we are moved to the improvement screen. We buy new types of weapons, power-ups and hire small mechanical animal assistants.
Technical aspects
Ultratron was made in a graphic style similar to other Puppy Games productions. It refers to the arcade games from the 80s as well as classic console hits from the same period. The soundtrack consists of fast electronic tracks and sounds that are also inspired by classic 8-bit titles.
