Ultimate General: American Revolution Description
Ultimate General: American Revolution is a strategy game set during the American Revolution. The player can control the chosen side in an attempt to take over North America - this requires large-scale battles. The game was developed and published by an independent studio Game-Labs.
Plot
The action of Ultimate General: American Revolution takes place at the end of the 18th century, during the American War of Independence.
Mechanics
Ultimate General: American Revolution is a strategy game, in which our main task is to conquer the continent to the chosen side - American revolutionaries or the army fighting under the British flag. The gameplay can be roughly divided into two parts: strategic and tactical.
The first one takes place on the map of North America, where we deal with logistics, taking care of supply lines, managing units (including morale, loyalty, recruitment or promoting commanders - which involves improving their abilities) and resources (water, food, minerals / metals or various types of ammunition - gunpowder, cannonballs, etc.). We are also responsible for the development of the controlled area or production of weapons.
The second part of the game are real-time battles played on tactical maps, during which we directly control our troops. Commanding battalions and regiments, we try to outsmart the enemy, defeat his forces and execute specific objectives. Battles are characterised by a very high level of realism - the developers have taken into account details such as the effect of terrain on visibility, ballistics of projectiles or delays in the arrival of orders to units (related to technological limitations of the times in which the game takes place). It is also worth mentioning that apart from land battles we also fight on the sea.
Additional possibilities in terms of controlling troops (e.g. the ability to separate scouts from a unit) and an advanced AI system, which can perform some tasks for us, help in dealing with the challenges - we decide for ourselves in which part of the battlefield our attention is required, and where the troops will manage on their own.
Game modes
Ultimate General: American Revolution can only be played solo. The core of the game is the single player mode.
Technical aspects
Ultimate General: American Revolution has a very nice 3D graphic design. Both the game environment and the units moving around it are characterised by a high level of detail. Also worth noting is the commitment to realism, reflected, among others, in the faithfully reproduced weaponry.
