Truck Racer, released on PC, PS2 and Wii, is a response of Nordic Games publishing company to the results of customer surveys. Many adult players have declared that they are missing simple arcade races that they could play with their children. The game was developed by Brain in a Jar studio.
Mechanics
Players have the opportunity to take part in the exciting struggles of cars of varying size. Among the vehicles in Truck Racer we can find a fire-brigade truck, a regular truck, a pick-up, a delivery van, and even off-road car and monster truck. The competitions take place on 8 routes set in 8 countries - the tracks have night and day variants.
Game modes
In the single-player mode, the player faces drivers controlled by artificial intelligence. The available modes include a standard race, a track duel or a fight in the arena. Truck Racer also offers the possibility of competing with a living opponent on a split-screen.
Technical aspects
The visuals in Truck Racer clearly indicate the low-cost nature of production. the vehicle models are characterized by a small amount of detail, and the racing tracks are very modest. The only advantage is the system of damage and deformation of a vehicle's body and the possibility of watching race replays.
