Tropico 6: Tropican Shores is the eighth expansion to the economic strategy game Tropico 6 released in 2019. The DLC was created by the authors of the base version of the game, namely the Limbic Entertainment team. It was done in cooperation with Realmforge Studios, whose portfolio includes the Dungeons series.
Construction at sea, maps and other innovations
Tropico 6: Tropican Shores brings new opportunities to develop our tropical empire, enabling expansion not only on land, but also at sea. The add-on introduces fifteen new buildings related to infrastructure (such as a floating power plant), housing (including previously unavailable residences), as well as entertainment and public services.
Additionally, the DLC allows us to express our power (and concern for citizens) by organizing submarine cruises, trips on board the luxury ship Tropitanic, as well as dolphin therapy for all willing (assuming they have enough cash). We can also inform interested parties about our high position by building a private yacht shipyard and constructing a new, shiny yacht made of gold, while our excellent physical condition can be emphasized by a diver's outfit.
Given the fact that all of this costs money, we can take advantage of three new edicts, which will reduce the cost of construction at sea, increase the efficiency of facilities, or impose additional taxes on citizens. An additional source of income can also be a new resource - pearls - which we obtain by using the services of fishermen.
We can familiarize ourselves with all the novelties on three additional maps, namely Pequeno Pero Mucho, Hipocampo and Las Manchas y Los Puntos. The fourth location was prepared for the Yacht for El Presidente scenario in mind, which is a kind of a tutorial.
Game modes
Similar to the base version of the game, in Tropico 6: Tropican Shores we can play alone or in multiplayer mode over the Internet (cooperating or competing with other players).
Technical aspects
Tropico 6: Tropican Shores is a non-standalone DLC, so it requires the base game Tropico 6 to run.
