Trollz: Hair Affair is a mix of an action and logic game. Its features likable female trolls (Amethyst, Sapphire, Onyx, Ruby, and Topaz) – characters known from a cartoon aired on Fox TV. One day boy-trolls get accused of cheating at school and are going to be sent to military academy, where they will have to go through hard drill and lose their opulent hair. Only the five heroines can save them from this unfortunate fate.
The gameplay is not overly complex. To finish the game you have to complete five mini-games, one for each of the protagonists. You can play Watch the Hair (detangling the hair of your female friend), Smarty Trollz (the gameplay resembles Dance Dance Revolution), Flying Spell (arcade gameplay), and Spell Beadz (something like Bust-A-Move). Each of these mini-games is repeated several times, each time getting more difficult.
There are two play modes: Story and Arcade. The latter lets you play any of the five mini-games without worrying about saving the boys. In Arcade mode you can select one of three difficulty levels. The gameplay is not very difficult, even on later stages. Because of the theme, story, characters, and extras (purchasable clothes for the heroines), the game is designed mainly for girls.
