Tribes of Midgard

Tribes of Midgard is a co-operative action adventure game in which players play as Vikings defending their home at the end of the world - Ragnarok. The game was developed by Norsfell Games studio and is his debut project. The publisher is the well-known company Gearbox Publishing.

Plot

The action Tribes of Midgard takes place in a universe inspired by Nordic mythology. The world is slowly coming to an end - the last battle called Ragnarok is coming. Players take on the role of warriors who try to survive this difficult time and defend their village from the invasion of monsters.

Mechanics

In Tribes of Midgard, the action is observed from top-down view - the isometric perspective. The gameplay consists of exploring the locations, collecting objects (both regular raw materials used to build and powerful, ancient relics), as well as fighting against enemies - the shadows of Helheim, monsters and giants.

The main goal is to defend the village against invasions that happen at night (during the day we prepare ourselves, and after dark we repel the attack). The game is over if the enemies go inside and destroy sapling of the world tree ( Yggdrasil). Combat is arcade (similar to many other action RPGs) - in battles we use various weapons and special abilities.

A key role in this game plays the crafting system, which allows to create both powerful equipment used by the characters and fortifications, buildings, bridges and various kinds of reinforcements making the village a more difficult target for monsters.

Game modes

In Tribes of Midgard we can play alone or with others, but it is worth noting that the game becomes more interesting in the online multiplayer mode (up to ten players can participate in the game simultaneously).

Technical aspects

Tribes of Midgard has an attractive, three-dimensional graphic design. The developers decided on a stylized, cartoon-like graphics that brings to mind associations with such games as Hades: Battle out of Hell or Transistor. Graphics are clear and full of distinctive colours. Also the projects of locations and enemies make a good impression.
